The Changemaker 2040 Museum isn’t your run-of-the-mill museum. It’s an experience. Think of it as part adventure, part wake-up call—designed to inspire and challenge you to take action on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our visit wasn’t just educational; it was energizing. We left buzzing with ideas, hope, and the urge to do more for our planet. Here’s how the journey unfolded:

I. The Foundation of Change: United Nations SDGs
It all starts with a powerful introduction to the SDGs. But don’t worry—this isn’t some boring lecture. The museum does a fantastic job of turning big, global issues into relatable, eye-opening stories. Vibrant visuals celebrate real-world successes, while interactive tools like carbon footprint calculators draw you into the action. Suddenly, you’re part of the narrative.

As part of the Lighthouse Legacy Foundation spearheading the International Coastal Cleanup here in the Philippines, the exhibit resonated deeply. We were particularly moved by the powerful displays dedicated to SDG 14: Life Below Water advocating for marine conversation.
It wasn’t just about highlighting problems like overfishing and coral bleaching—it celebrated real solutions, like creating marine sanctuaries and advocating for sustainable fishing practices. It was a beautiful reminder of what’s possible when people come together.”
II. Tackling Plastic Pollution
This section? It’s a game-changer. Here, you’re shown how waste can become a resource when handled responsibly. Some of the coolest examples came from the Philippine Alliance for Sustainable Solutions (PASS) and its partners—Wasto PH, Green Space, and Sentinel Recycling. Their innovative takes on plastic pollution made us rethink what’s possible.

I was joined by Zed, co-founder of the Lighthouse Legacy Foundation as well as the animated embodiment of the Philippine Alliance for Recycling and Materials Sustainability (PARMS). He represents the Zero Waste to Nature Program, which focuses on helping producers meet their obligations under the Extended Producer Responsibility Law (RA 11898), a recently enacted law that oblige companies to recover up to 80% of the plastics they produce. PARMS’ initiatives embody SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, proving that systemic change is not only necessary but achievable.
III. Fun Meets Advocacy
The final station celebrates sustainability with joy and creativity, blending advocacy with entertainment. Activities like sustainable trivia, fruit-slicing games, and upcycled crafts turn complex lessons into memorable and engaging experiences.
The museum’s incredible staff—Gelai, PJ, and Noriel—deserve a special mention for their enthusiasm and dedication, which elevated the entire visit.
Join the Movement: Be a Changemaker
Exiting the Changemaker 2040 Museum, one thing was clear: building a sustainable future requires all of us. Whether you’re a student launching a green initiative, an organization amplifying its impact, or an individual adopting eco-friendly habits, there’s a role for everyone in this movement. We also have to give a shoutout to the museum staff—Gelai, PJ, and Noriel—who made the experience extra special. Their energy and warmth were contagious.

This museum isn’t just a place to visit; it’s a rallying cry to take action. Inspired by the innovative exhibits and practical solutions, we can work together to achieve the SDGs. Because the world doesn’t need a few perfect changemakers—it needs millions of imperfect ones striving to make a difference. What are you waiting for? Take your first step today. Join us in creating a future we can all be proud of.
